However, one way to better determine what is typical practice in your state is to visit the high school websites for the most affluent districts in your state. You're specifically looking for high schools in districts with the most resources and typically the widest range of high school class offerings. From there you can often see if this sort of course is offered as a core science course or an elective within that school.
